Seven years in the making, my first published book, This Phoenix Speaks , is now a reality. The tireless and tiring work invested to ma...

vibrant

Flowers in the ground pushing through
Finding their way to the warm sun
As it radiates the news
That winter is nearly done

Petals, soft and vibrant
Dressing earth's floor
With richly shining satin
Making ready for the show

Spring into love's adoration
Dancing in the light of joy
With happiness in each flower
Altogether, my heart's buoy.

healing

How many days more must I be bored
Staring at the walls and screens and somethings
Waiting to be all healed and freed

Food and care and kindness has restored
My body hurting and this heart that's aching
Hoping to awake completely

To think with clarity and freedom
A strong mind and body are what I want
Simple lessons on thankfulness

still

The sun still rose today
Even though I thought it might see my pain
The birds still sang of spring today
Even though I thought they might hear my sad tune
The mountains still stood today
Even though I thought they might be crushed too
The flowers still pushed through today
So I will too

right now

Don't ask me about tomorrow or next week
I know what I know right now
Don't make more out of this—or less
I know what I know right now

Share all that you have in your heart
Because I am here in front of you right now
Share all the hopes and dreams you've saved
Because I am here in front of you right now

Take my hand on purpose every day
So we can look toward more than right now
Place my heart within your heart
So we can look forward to the future

Right now leads to tomorrow
And everyday love—right now

windows

Windows open up the world from the inside of our homes
Glass so fragile yet somehow holds everything outside at bay
Clouded or clear, they make way for viewing
The aspects of our lives we want to see
The sun and moon and each glittering star

Windows can open up our hearts to love
We lock them tight to keep out pain
But we must unlatch the lock
If we are to know where we belong
We need to shed some light on who we are

Windows open up our lives
With inspiration's power
With joy and gladness around the corner
We hope for what lies in store
As we gaze through the windows of our souls
