a tiny rant about singleness
I know it's a nice sentiment to "learn to love being alone" because I've done it. I've always been happy to go out places by myself since I could drive. However, it's become my new norm.
It's where I live now. But I will not sit back and say it's the best gift a woman can give herself. It's not the best gift anyone can give themselves. That's a lie. I don't condone people being heart wrenched and wretched just because they don't have a significant other, yet I do submit that the best gift is to hold onto the best things in life, which if you have a spouse, that's the best gift you can give yourself—being faithful and honoring your commitment. And if you don't have someone, to put forth effort to connect and commit with someone special when possible.
Being single is not the best gift. Period. I don't care how much you wish it were true, people who think that somehow there is more in having less.
