Abandoned on the highway side
Left to fend
With nowhere to go
But to bend
Bending to the weather
With none to tend
Hoping for rains to come—and go
With little to lend
Lending her heart from time to time
To strangers and to friends
With hope ever smiling
Like sun shining, making amends
A warrior queen all robed in white and light
Prepared for the future, effervescent and bright
