My Hope For Eternity
You left on an adventure without me
So I'm always looking to find you
Around every corner
Life continues on
Children, friends, and neighbors
You have never met
I'm wishing I could introduce you
But you are away on your adventure
One of these days, I will come to find you
Without knowing how far I must go
Or when the time will be
Around the corner
Mother, father, and others
I would like to meet
You will be there to introduce us
When I join you just around the corner
My parents died untimely deaths. I am the oldest child in my family and both mother and father were gone before my 30th birthday. There are probably many of you out there in my same boat and I write this especially for you and then for the rest of my audience, I write this as an attempt to cultivate that seed of hope for when your time comes to start looking around every corner.
I know that we will live forever with God and our families. I treasure my days here with the family I still have to enjoy, but look forward with a perfect brightness of hope to the day when we can all be together again in blessed, happy reunion.

ReplyDeleteThis brought me to tears. I too look forward to eternity when I will have the opportunity to meet your parents for the first time. Absolutely beautiful, Laura. <3
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that, Laura. It gives a tiny voice to the frustration I feel of being robbed of my parents.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this, and for pointing us to it. It is indeed 'a word aptly spoken' Prov 25:11. Mark.
ReplyDeleteMark: I hope it helped you both in some small way.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura! That is beautiful. You are so very gifted with words. Continue to share that talent because it really uplifts. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteSo beautifully written... What a lovely tribute and reminder of hope!
